The Board of Trustees of the “Festival Mitte Europa· New Neighbors· Dialogue of Cultures”
The “Festival Mitte Europa, Bavaria· Bohemia· Saxony” was started in 1991 in response to the new possibilities of inter-German and German-Czech cooperation. Its sponsor is the registered non-profit civil association “Misslareuth 1990. Mitte Europa e.V.” (Plauen District Court No. 301). A partner association exists on the Czech side.
The seven-person committee of “Misslareuth 1990. Mitte Europa e.V.” is represented by three Czech and four German citizens. Its chairman, Dr. Vykoukal, is director of the Gallery of Fine Arts in Cheb. The association has had German and Czech members ever since its founding. Their goal is to organize cultural encounters to help people on both sides get to know one another, to reduce feelings of mutual resentment, and to foster an atmosphere of friendship, particularly in the German-Czech border region. It is their desire to promote the new opportunities of cooperation and culture that emerged after the fall of the Wall. The “Festival Mitte Europa” now combines three Euroregions: the Euregio Egrensis, the Euroregion Erzgebirge / Krušnohoří (Ore Mountains), and the Euroregion Elbe / Labe.
Three explicit goals have been set down in its articles of association:

1. To organize the "Festival Mitte Europa"
2. To promote the next generation of artists in master-class workshops.
3. To maintain the concert series “Music in Misslareuth”, established in 1985.     Become a member of “Misslareuth 1990. Mitte Europa e.V.” Annual membership fees are €30 for individuals. Legal entities can join for €100 a year.
